After his enlistment in the Navy, Councilman Brady spent 5 years in Raleigh, North Carolina attending North Carolina State University (NCSU). He earned 2 Bachelor Degrees, one in Electrical Engineering and one in Nuclear Engineering.
During this time, he was employed part-time by the University as a student Reactor Operator at their 1-megawatt (MW) Pulstar Reactor. In this capacity, he was licensed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
